Luis García Santana – conductor choir

Luis trained at the Las Palmas Professional Conservatory. He received singing lessons from María I. Torón Macario, Alfredo Kraus, Elly Ameling and many others. He has been dedicated to choir conducting and vocal education for thirty years. He has been, among others, the choirmaster of the Opera of Oviedo for 10 years and, during his stay in Asturias he has toured almost all of Spain with several choirs, obtaining various awards in choral competitions. Luis has been musical director of the OFGC Choir since 2000. He has performed all the great choral symphonic repertoire from Bach or Haendel to Schoenberg and toured extensively.
As a conductor he has directed the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra, Las Palmas Municipal Symphony Band, Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra and various instrumental ensembles in joint programs with the Chamber Choir “Mateo Guerra”. He also holds degrees in musicology from the University of Oviedo and a degree from the UNED in Cultural Heritage Management. In 2020 he will be touring all Canary islands with “César, el musical”, being responsible for the choirs of the show.
