This choir was founded in 2000 as part of the choirs of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria, with the intention of performing chamber music and unusual symphonic repertoire. During the Holy Week they often perform works by Schubert, Bach, Schnittke, Messiaen, Duruflé, Wagner and others.
The choir has collaborated with the Philharmonic Society of Las Palmas, CICCA, the University of Las Palmas. An important achievement was the complete performance of the Responsorios de Tinieblas by Tomás Luis de Victoria in 2012, a premiére on the Canary Islands. They were honored to participate in Mozart’s operas Così operas fan tutte and Le nozze di Figaro with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and under the famous conductor Iván Fischer. Since 2015, the choir has established a very special relationship with the International Bach Festival, performing the Bach’s Passions and the Easter Oratory conducted by Michael Gieler.
